Often used SUN hardware platforms: SF15000, V1280, V880, V890, V480, SF280R and V240. • Architectual server/infrastructure design and creation of implementation plans based on customer requests for new, enhanced and upgrade services. • Maintaining and updating server documnetation and best pratices in Wiki based tool. Primarily in English but also some German. • Investigating and identifying of operating system and application performance bottlenecks. Typically disk I/O, network and/or RAM issues. • Veritas Volume Manager + Filesystem: online adding and removing of SAN disks, reconfiguring of diskgroups and volumes. Mirroring of internal disks. Online resizing of VxFS filesystems. • SDS: SUNs Soltice DiskSuite to mirror internal disks (only). No SDS experience with SAN disks. • NFS: ver3 server and client configuration. • DNS: keeping DNS information current using Bind server software • Apache webserver: tailoring specialised preconfigured packages depending of environmental requirements. • Compiling and packaging a multitude of common Open Source Software according to internal standards and best pratices for easy distribution and centralised software rollout. (Sun .pkg format) • Installation of new systems using custom Jumpstart servers with post-installation to install location and application dependt packages. • Centralised patch management using SUNs TLP product. • Nagios monitoring tool for pre-emptive intervention to minimise production interruption. • Perl and shell programming to ease, automate and centralising various administration tasks, such as; creating and deleting users, stopping and starting of services and applications; rollout of new software releases. • Disaster Recovery: assuring and maintaining the company disaster recovery solution in a changing server environment. SAN data and shell-script semi-automated DR solution to ensure buisiness continuity in case of disaster. Working as a security expert for a Nortel customer in Lisbon, Portugal securing SUN Solaris 2.6, 2.7 and 8 servers in a UMTS / UNIX production environment. Project was a security / auditing contract where we audited, made recommendations and secured Solaris platforms using the SUN Jass security tool.
